My girlfriend is being sued for $10,000 by her employer, can she go to jail?

There are criminal trials and civil trials. Being sued is a civil trial and does not entail jail time. if they choose to pursue criminal charges, she absolutely could go to jail. She needs a really good lawyer. This is no time to be cheap.
