Why aren't headshops allowed to discuss pricing over the phone?

I called a local headshop tonight to ask if they had the iolite in stock, and how much it cost. He said yes they have it in stock but aren't able to talk about pricing over the phone. I don't understand why? I'm not driving all the way from Cleburne to Arlington if I don't know the price.
